Can it support

I bought a Manfrotto 3021BN and 3265 handgun head (because it much resembles the water sprayer I use at work which i am quite proficient with)
I know its not top tripod gear, so I was wondering if I can go ahead and pick up some heavy telephotos (canon 70-200 2.8 and bigma)
also which order would you reccomend I get the two as they will be seperated by about 2 months (one ill buy friday if my tripod is a go)

Tripod will do fine. The head's going to be marginal, especially if you get far off the vertical.

Replace the head with a 488RC2 ball head and you'll be set for those lenses.

Heck for $5 more get the 488RC4 and youll get spirit levels.

... and a QR plate that is way too big for most 35mm-sized SLR cameras.

The RC4 system was really designed for medium-format cameras.

The RC2 system is the best of Bogen/Manfrotto's quick-release systems for the EOS family of cameras.

Thanks for the replies all. Its a pity the head will have to go. I decided to go with the canon lens first so the head will have to be sold before friday! (local classifieds) The 488rc2 will be on its way shortly.

So sad, the head + camera + brick + hood made a really sweet looking handgun (if only the trigger could be rigged up to fire the shutter)

According to my Manfrotto catalog, the 3265 is only rated for 5.5 lbs, pushing it for a heavy lens. They do make another pistol grip, the 322RC2, which is rated for 11 lbs, will work either horizontal, or vertical, and can be had with optional trigger switches to fire your camera.
