I have a chance to buy 3021BPRO Bogen/Manfrotto tripod, with ball head and quick-release plate, for $100.

The ad doesn't specify which ball head and QR plate. Do you think this is a good deal, and also what's your opinion on this model tripod itself?

Its a steal of a deal on a very popular tripod. Private deal?

I would be worried about a scam unless it's a local vendor who you can take it back to if there's something wrong with it.

The 3021BPro is a great tripod. I usually suggest topping it with a Bogen/Manfrotto 488RC2 ballhead for EOS cameras.

since you're interested in macros, you probably want one of the tripods that allows the arm to go horizontal. This one, the gitzo explorer, and the benro are the main options for this feature. I like the explorer but the 3021 is also very good, and that sounds like a good price even without the ballhead. The B&H new price is $158 for the tripod only.

your sig line already shows it !!!

It's a local ad, and I've sent some questions regarding its condition, etc. Since it's local, I have a chance of course to check it out before the final transaction. If it's in pretty good condition, I'm planning on getting it.

My my my my.... I AM getting old or, as one of my colleagues says to me often at work, suffering from Alzeimer's... :o

I saw the advertising photo, and it showed in chrome (mine's black) with different looking head, and in my rotting brain I automatically assumed a different model from mine. I'm not one of those who remember numbers easily.

In any case, my BIG apology to all of you for this embarrassment. Now that I "know" the quality of this tripod, I'm more leaning towards purchasing it as I'd like to have a second tripod for my future studio set up.

Your first post said that a 3021BPro is being offered for sale. The "B" in the model number means black. It could be they have an incorrect photo.

Yes, I was just looking at the ad again, and I have this feeling that the seller isn't all that familiar with the photography stuff.... (or is he/she suffering from the same ailment as me...). One thing for sure is that I'll get to inspect the item before the purchase...

I've got that tripod and it takes just about anything that I can put it through. I use a RB67 and with that weight, I don't have a problem. If condition is good, it's a keeper

I have the 3021 PRO (Silver) and I absolutely love it. The tripod is nice and sturdy, with good weight, and the legs by themselves cost about $160.

When I went to buy it I wanted the Black version, but they were sold out. I took the silver one because I needed it for a photo shoot and I don't regret it. Lovely tripod.

Well, no response from the seller -- yet. Maybe he/she's working weekends...
