I have a custom project in my mind that i'de like to somewhat attempt. I went to every store in my area looking for the gel filters that have to be cut out for fisheye lenses. Not a single store sold them. I even tried a pearl paints and nothing. I know i can get them at b&h, but i really want a polarizer.

My plan is to make a custom 1 off cokin style holder for the fisheye. It will consist of a hacked up hood that sigma provides (i am going to try and order maybe 2 more, ISH). Now my only problem is finding a piece of polarized glass in the size i'de like to work with,3.5"x3.5". I dont want to by the cokin glass as its nearly $300 for the z pro size.

Now my question is, where can i find a place that sells polarized glass in sheets? I'de maybe buy a whole sheet and then have it cut into the right size needed.

Can anyone help?

Not glass, but have you tried a science supply place, like Edmund Scientific? They carry that kind of thing for physics exercises.

Have you looked closely at Sigma's hood? If it's anything like the ones for their 12-24 and 15-30 zooms it may have a snap-on lens cap already in the front.

jon the lens cap slips on the front. But now im not to sure if this is doable. Im taking a closer look at it. When it is slipped on the front that is the hood. I had thought while at work the other night that you unslip the hood and then turn it around and mount it. In the same way you do with regular hoods. I may have to come up with something.

4" x4" is a very common filter size for cine filters.

Can you use this, or does it have to be 3.5" ?

4x4 i can definitely use. 3.5x3.5 was the smalles i coudl go. the lens measures exactly 3" across. So 4x4 would probably be more doable.
