Oh well it has been 2 weeks since my very traumatic ordeal in Las Vegas, January 7th, 2007 at 7am, you come down from your hotel room and come to see in your vehicle all your stuff (camera equipment, entire collection and some valuable stuff) gone! I could not recall how long my jaw was dropped...

Tough lesson learned.......

All I think about now is my gear, after how many years always used to having gear in my sight, having my gear within reach, any day any minute of the day I head out and do what I love to do...SHOOT............today I still do the same but not before I head out to a local rental store to get my gear. All I have with me the pertains to shooting is my LIGHTING equipment, studio stuff, the most valuable and most important part is not there though (THE CAMERA)

IT is true indeed you never miss something until you dont have it anymore.

So yeah....I do miss my stuff...especially it brings me food to my table...Now it still does but its a rental I cant keep it for long....Oh well hopefully next week my new stuff should start coming in.

All I can say to my fellow POTN....be careful with your gear.....hard lesson learned and I am glad to share it with anyone...

I may be sad but I put it in the brightside. Things happen for a reason...Maybe since it's the new year, I start with new gear....I hope this does not happen every year though....

So until then...I can't wait till I hear the words..... Happy New Gear!!!!

That's terrible. Too many stories of theft lately, it seems. No insurance?

So...every single piece of gear in your equipment link is gone? I uh....gosh. That brings a tear to my eye. No chance I'd ever leave that in my car, though. Covered or not.

I remember reading your story. I take it they never found the thieves or your stolen equipment?

Man, that sucks ... a painful lesson :-( In some ways it can be a fresh start and a chance to look again at your gear priorities. Still painful, but 6 months from now you will be set up again.

I wish I can wait for that long, having it has my bread and butter..I cannot wait until 6 months......I already started to get some of them already...Im getting a new 1Ds MkII by this week.....as for the lenses I will start with my top 3.......

my pocket wizards, I had about 8 of them..so I will start with 4 first...then Memory cards..they stole everything I had..that was 20pcs. 4gig extreme IIIs my light meter......my 580ex.....so I will start with those again...the lens I cant do it all at once..I had about 10 lenses in that set...all L's so all I can do right now is start with my top 3, 2 bodies, then the pw's, 580ex and memory cards with my light meter..that should do it for now...then in a couple of months build my lens set again....Phew....what a task to do...

but if ....if they find it...I will sell some of them.... :))

oh well....still hoping for light...

its a funny story how it got left behind........i brought down some of the equipment at around 5am...and my 2 bags huge tamracs were covered by my coats...so all I saw was my coats, so was thinking I brought them up to the room already....I went back up for some chill time (1 hour and 30 mins) I discovered it wasnt there...I rushed down...and yup....the dreaded expectation came true...

phew........:(

Surely someone saw you put that stuff in your car. That's the problem. If I were "scum", and I saw you put two huge bags in your car and cover them over with jackets, you can be sure I'd check into it after you left. That action screams "$$$$$$$$$$$$$"

hey Ron I think that wasnt the problem, since my coats were already there in place, that is the reason I did not see the bags, I think its that big robotic printer/burner I had that attracted them, it was brandnew and in its box, thats what they saw probably....

then when they broke in....that was it.....they hit the jackpot

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Yeha, they did even better than they expected. I'm always paranoid when I leave my stuff in the car for any amount of time. I spend a good couple minutes scanning the cars around me to see if anyone's watching. Then I'll move to the back/trunk.

I kinda like that with the onstar in my caddy, if a window breaks, or the alarm is tripped, I get a text message on my cell phone right away telling me "something's wrong". Don't know exactly what it would say, because it hasn't happened before. Nice feature for 20 bucks/month.

thats what i have to find out with my onstar to, it did not trigger that, since i do have onstar as well, but the didnt break the window anyway, they just popped the lock, since my car has only one lock, the driver side.....
