Nice! Is it always hazy in your part of California? Smog blowing east from L.A.? Or are the mountains so distant that they just give that illusion?

It is rarely crystal clear. We usually have varying degrees of haze. The mountains in the picture are maybe 5 miles away.

I agree, Dan. I really like the dark future paint scheme. The blue looks GOOD when it's clean....like this:

The engines looked quite new. They were a little dusty from the frame down, but everything else was shiny. Very pretty.

that 5400 is a brand new 2007 delivery. It was just in upstate NY last week. Can't believe its out west already.

Thanks, Marie. The containers do make for fairly tall trains. We get several of those every day, and they're frequently a mile long.

BTW, each of those two blue locomotives produces 4,400 horsepower. That'll get the job done.
