Which is the standard lens pen for cleaning lenses (their site has like 8 different ones, so I'm pretty confused)? And what is a good method to clean your sensor? I have heard of the ecilpse method but it sounds tough. Will a sensor lenspen work or will it do more harm than good? I think I can handle the ecilpse thing but I don't know if there is a better method.

There's nothing tough about pec pads and eclipse fluid. It's what I use.

As for the lenspens, our own CDS uses the Hakuba lens pen from B&H on his super telephoto primes with success, so I'd trust it.

I use Hakuba also. I have not had a single problem with them. I have three just in case one gets lost while I'm shooting. Lol

Where do you get the pec pads and eclipse fluid?

Who is CDS? Some admin here?

And what is the difference between the Hakuba and the www.lenspen.com (external link) ones (I heard these were the best... or are they all the same?

I used to use Lenspens for cleaning until I read some good advice. The muck and stuff that you clean off your lens using a lens pen stays on the lens pen. That's fine for the first clean, but for successive cleans you're just using a dirty cloth to clean a dirty surface. I now use Pecpads and Eclipse fluid.

Lens pens are ok.. they get dirty and then its not good to use. If you like them, I would toss it after a few uses.

I like microfiber cloth... many different ways to clean a lens. pads + fluid is cool too, just make sure you apply fluid to the cloth, not the lens.

For sensor cleaning... thats easy... send it to canon, they do it for Free....

CDS - CyberDyneSystems.

Eclipse/PecPads - most good photo stores, for your sensor, after using a Rocket Blower

Lenspens or microfiber cloth for lenses - but apparently Best Buy selkls something called a "lens Pen" which sprays cleaning solution on your lens - don't get that; only a true L:ensPen which has a brush on one end and a chemically-treated pad on the other (under a protective cap).

There is only one manufacturer of Lenspens....the good folks at lenspen.com make the Hakuba and other varieties. I used lenspens on not just my lenses, but on my sensors as well. They work very well.
