I took this a while back never posted it, i just wanted to share with all of you see what you think.

I used to work in Uptown Whittier (CA), and now we moved back to Downtown LA where we came from originally, and i found these on every single light pole. At first i was shocked to see this...its normal now, i know the it used to be a religious symbol....till it got flipped over and used by someone else....

Hope this doesnt offend anyone, if it does...it wasnt my intent.

Hmmm. It took me a good while to figure you're not talking about the 78 | 04 letters... which capture my eye strongly. Yes, the Svastika is a very old religious, peaceful symbol, until the other angry guy used it for his causes. I would want to see a bit more visual emphasis on that symbol, if it was your intention to show it clearly. However, the shot works in a way that I looked at it as a quite harmless thing - and was surprised, when I found the Svastika at the bottom of the post.

cheers

I had the same reaction as Roland. I was fixated at first on the white numbers because of their high contrast. It took me a moment to find what it is that you had been referring to and was also then surprised that they are so clearly there and yet I'd initially missed them. Quite subtle. Makes me wonder perhaps if the numbers were painted on in bright white for that very reason...

I'm used to seeing the swastika though - especially this left facing one because I live in SE Asia and it is a common auspicious symbol in Buddhism. I do remember being startled the first time I saw it on the chest of a Bodhisattva Maitreya Buddha.
