Though my vote went to Creative basically because I have used their product in the past and been extremely satisfied with the build and quality of the product, the Archos looks very capable as well.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I bought the Creative ... I looked at the Archos and to be honest with a feature choice between either recording TV on the Archos or having a fast CF slot in the W then it was a no brainer.

If you have the money...the Archos is a very slick unit...

The Archos looks very nice indeed. Looked it up on B&H...I'll be darned if this doesn't look like the coolest gadget to have. Pinhole camera!

Links to the actual items?

I crawl with shame and hesitate to reveal my ignorance ( truly - this is not an easy statement to make) - but I have no idea what these things are.

What's the real deal w/ cf slots? I'll buy the 80 G. so I don't think size will be a barrier for me. I don't need a cf card in any time soon? yes, no? OHH. . I got it. (you take pics and then slot in the cf cards, then You got all your pics in it ...right?) Tell me if I'm wrong.
But for me, I'm just going to transfer it using USB. yeah it's gonna take a while, but I think I'll live with that. .. :)

And, if i'm heading towards the archos, I'll have to buy the dock too, in order to record tv program... which is quite pricey.. . .

The W is good if you need a CF dumping facility in the field. I'll use it in Africa rather than take loads of CF cards. If you don't need that then no point, so buy something smaller and cheaper.

I am looking at the Zen W, that CF slot is pretty useful.
