Looking to buy some sort of LCD cover, I like the Delkin Pro form what I see online, but I want to know opinions of actual users.

Nothing - Mine's naked! :-)

I think the Hoodmans etc. just get in the way, or your nose keeps poking them...

I did have a 'thin clear cover' (A PDA screen protector cut down) but this just made the LCD less contrasty and made viewing a bit of a pain. I've had mine 'naked' now for about a year and I've not scratched it yet.

If you have one of the EOS cameras, the LCD on the back is already covered by a very tough plastic sheet which is also readily replaceable for about $20. I've had my D60 for over 4 years, the 20D for 2-1/2 and the 5D for the best part of a year and none of them are showing any signs of scuffing, scratching or other damage. As for shading the screen for outdoor viewing - I use my hand, or a hat brim, or turn away from the sun so the camera's in my shadow. You can't rely on the LCD for much besides the histogram, anyhow.

I have those clear screen protectors from martinfields. I used to have a flip up type cover by hoodman but it just got in the way. Just turn around or use your hand if the suns in the way.

I don't use anything - the flip-up masks get in the way, in my opinion, and I haven't yet seen a reason for a clear protective sheet.

Have Fun,

Jeez, this could develop into another version of the "hood vs. protective filter" debate - but I hope not!

Nothing is necessary to protect the factory-provided LCD cover. It is extremely resistant to damage and I have proven that by the way that I let it be exposed to everything. If I wipe mine (on a 20D) off carefully, I can see that there is no visible damage to it yet.

I do not baby my camera - it's a tool to be used.

Leave it bare or just a thin clear mylar film. I have never used a flip-up cover but for me it would just be in the way and make it hard to chimp and shoot.

For Canon cameras, I think these products are mostly solutions looking for a problem.

As mentioned in another post, a replacement LCD cover is likely less expensive that these protective devices.

I have a much used and never babied Canon 10D (almost 4 years old) without any protection on the LCD screen. It is still almost perfect.

Enjoy! Lon
