My mother had a favorite thing that seemed to silently follow her around. Her crystal strawberry always managed to pop up near to her favorite new chair. We never discussed it... I've no idea where it came from, or when. I know where it is now though... It's glimmering at me right over there atop my bookcase. It seems to pop up nearby my favorite places. And it sparkles at me the way she once did. Mom's sparkles still feel priceless.

Appreciate the response:) :) actually, as I look at it now, maybe I went too hot with this image? I wanted to really spotlight the thing - to make it loom larger than it is in reality... as it does in my small narrative. Yet, perhaps if it were sitting on a darker, low key background, the warmth, rather than an explosion of emotion, would dominate? Wuddaya think?

Incidentally, this original capture was a three-light shot in an improvised light box on my desk top.

As for the pp... it is a combination of some Lucis "plaid" filter work sandwiched in among maybe three blending modes - particularly "saturation". Of course I masked away the filter/modes upon the gold and dark areas of the strawberry. Time involved from opening to posting on my blog? I'd say 20 minutes, maybe less. I knew where it was going, so there was no time spent in experimentation.

Beautiful subject, and very interesting too. I can see why your mum loved it. What a lovely heartwarming story too :)

Oh what a strong radiation! What a vibrant color scheme. The strawberry holds day and night, Jin and Yang in it, as well as there are stars in the universe of black and white. From that very symbolism comes a powerful message, supported by the "big bang" and "star burst" feeling the radiation in the background produces. It must be the beginning of everything, as there is absolute darkness on the border of the scene. Something that looks like a mighty hand or claw holds the strawberry of life and death - a symbol for the creative powers? I like it very much.

cheers

That's deep...

I guess this proves that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!
