While I agree with you that a level of control is required on this or any public message board, I thought today's moderation of the thread, the one that no one knows which I'm referring to because I'm discussing this here in the "appropriate forum", was not needed.
It was a discussion, yes one with opposing views, but just a discussion nontheless. That is something that is going to happen anytime you have people from all over the world interacting with each other with regards to a shared interest, and should be encouraged IMO. But I'm to understand that any discussion or debate, even one that is directly related to a posted set of photos, is not allowed to take place in any forum but this one? That's unfortunate in my opinion.
I don't want to see this message board become castrated to the point that everytime we click on a thread, all we see are pictures posted and then 3 pages of responses like "good job!", "nice shot!" or "what F stop did you use?" But that looks like where we're going.

To have a General Ramblings forum is fine, but no one is going to stop in the middle of a thought or opinion there are having about a group of photos they are looking at and say "hold on everyone, follow me over to this other forum so we can discuss it", that's just not realistic.
So as I said, I agree with the need for moderation, especially when things are getting out of line or just plain rude, but I thought today's deletion of that debate was unjust. It was disappointing.

That's all, and I feel better now. Everyone can now go back to enjoying the amazing photos that are posted on this board everyday, as I will. Sorry that none of you have any idea what the heck I'm talking about

Im affraid you are right. I have been seeing more of this here...

Annother thing I have noticed is certian senior members are allowed to get away with saying things that wouldnt be tolerated by normal members. I have found in the past this is espically true in the Camera forum, and thus I stay away from it.

I personally feel that the senior members have earned some leniency. They have spent a large amount of their time on here spreading their thoughts and ideas. While I do believe that everyone should play by the same rules, I feel that it is somewhat easier to tolerate the infractions if performed by someone who has a fairly decent track record.

I would love to see everyone's pics get at least a comment or two. On just about every photo sharing board, there are numerous photos that get zero comments positive or negative.

Wait, is this the right place to state this
