You can get them for about $60 with $20 shipping compared to about $400 at B&H.

Im just curious about the picture quality...

Not off ebay, but saw one at a local store where they had a few displayed in the window. To say the least, I was not impressed. The image quality was very poor. Display was too bright, can feel a bit of flickering, and just did not look like a photo to me.

This will of course vary from brand to brand. What I'm getting at is, make sure you are able to see the product in person before making the purchase. At least, make sure you can return it for your money back.

I might be interested in the ones mentioned here: http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/article/ces_2007 (external link) Where it talked a bit about digital frames from http://www.pandigital.net/ (external link).

Thanks! They do sound nice!!! :)

They are going for about $130 on ebay for the 8" and thats not bad at all.

I like the fact that they play music and videos and they also come with a remote.

looking closer now Pandigital seems to have the best resolution for picture frames around that price. 800X480 compared to 640X480 or worse.

i have an 8inch pandigital. the picture quality is on par with an old laptop monitor. not bad but not great. you can adjust almost everything. contrast, brightness, frame rate, you can even add music. it can use almost any type of memory card and even has a built in hard drive. it also has 2 different frame covers (wood grain and black). its around 100 bucks i think. i'm not sure because it was a gift. i think its great. no one is going to be fooled and think its a real photo but its nice to have the he slide-show running when company is over. the one thing it does that i don't like is it kind of crops some pictures to fit the frame. it doesn't do it to all of them so I'm assuming there is some sort of size limit. in any case, some photos are cropped too much and the tops of heads are cut off. this aside i love the frame and plan on getting another (bigger) one soon.

Look carefully at what card slots it has. I bought some online and when I got them they do not have a CF card slot, only SD, Memory Stick, and a couple other formats. Not a killer, I just got some cheap SD cards on eBay - but check for that if it matters to you.

Image quality is certainly an issue the cheaper you go. The IQ on Brookstone's frame is gorgeous, but its $400.

Have Fun,

Rick

yes. the picture quality is nor wonderful but its adequate for what i want it to do. i just cant see paying $500 for a marginally better quality screen. if i want a picture to be perfect ill print it and put it in a real frame. this little frame gets quite a bit of attention. everyone that comes over stays glued to it for like 10min or so when they first notice it. probably because that's how long it takes for the pictures to loop. there are a few flaws but i am satisfied with it. if you normally find yourself pixel peeping on your computer this is probably not the frame for you. if your satisfied with pictures clear enough to get the point across then this on will due fine. oh, and the one i have is 7inches not 8. i think i said 8 before.

At $200 I might as well spend another $200 and get a flat screen tv and hook up my camera on the slide show.

I am using it to show off pictures at a booth.

Or how about one of those portable dvd players. They seem to look pretty good?

Well I found a 20" flat screen at Costco for $300 with $16.50 shipping. It has RCAs in and great resolution. And if anything ever happens to it, Costco will replace it for free!
