Keith, a very nice set of pictures, 1 & 4 being my favorite the detail in the blacks is very good. i don't particularly like cormorants but this does make them look better. and blackbirds are great.
keep the good work up :)

Nice set Keith love the Cormorant you did a great job to bring out the detail in the plumage.

Thanks all.

Brian, I didn't "do" anything to get the plumage detail right with the cormorant (or the rest) - the 30D just seems to be a lot more forgiving about exposure than my Nikons used to be.

On them, I was forever dialling in EV Comp - positive or negative to suit the scene - but I almost never need to touch EV Comp on the Canon.

Shooting in RAW provides a little safety net, but things just seem to work out without my help..!

;)

Thanks, Nick.

Hi John,

these were last weekend with the exception of the blackbird, which was this afternoon, during a brief break in the snow and hail we've been getting too.

Nice series with the first image being my favourite for the feather detail, exposure and that beautiful green eye ....pops nicely on my monitor. The second shot as well gets a lot of my attention...very nice series.
