i have both. but i keep going for the 5D / 24-70 combo. weird, one would think that having the 70-200L IS slapped onto a 30D would be a nicer combo. however, im finding myself taking the 5D out more than the 30D. has this happened to you? :D

Don't blame you. Hard to argue with full frame and wide angle...!

That's what I most often go for in day-to-day shooting too; I think it's not any inherent problem with the 70-200/30D combo as much as it is that we normally live at wide-to-normal FoV; telephotos are less suitable for everyday life around the home or office.

Well I know I have my 24-105 on more than my 70-200 but that is due to having snowwwwww for about 2 months straight now and not being able to get out into the mountains to photograph wildlife. So yeah I kinda understand you lol, but I would never sell my 70-200.

I keep a 28-105 on an OM film body. I've done that for over twenty years. When it comes off it is only to put a 70-210 on.

With my dslr's I have keep either the 24-70L or 17-55 IS only because I don't see the need to buy the 24-105 IS yet. When I want longer, I use the 70-200 f/2.8 IS or a Sigma 80-400 OS. Longer than that I shift to a Bigma.

I find the above listed items cover about anything I need to do.

Eventually I'll pick up a couple of primes.

If Canon comes out with the a 24-105 f/2.8 IS. That will be my next lens.
