I have a Dell monitor at the moment, its a 19inch CRT, made by Sony.
I don't believe dell makes any of thier own monitors, they just rebrand someone elses. So some are very good, and some are very average :)

and a darn fine monitor it is. i have the same one at home.

I agree with pretty much everything you said above, and thanks for further clarrifying, i just wanted to remove the feeling that dell computers were utter crap and were just going to blow up on you.

That said people who can build their computer probably still should, because you know what parts you are putting in, and what you can upgrade them with later. but for the average joe they would rather pay more, replace more often, and know they have a solid tech support if and when something goes wrong.

Dells been taking care of me and my buisness for years... and always for a fair price since we always look for deals.

We have order over 10-12 systems and 10-12 monitors over a 5 year perior of time and never once had a problem.

Right now I am using the Dell 20.1 Widescreen which has the same LG pannel inside as the apple monitors! Got my sceen for CHEAP too compared to regular price, and a steal compared to apples price.

unless you want a hardcore graphics monitor...

If you are cash money I would get this sucker. Comes with monitor calibration so I would also take that into account.

i work at ccity selling mostly camera's but i do sell computers too, and we do work on peoples computers and have seen a huge amount of dells and our tech.s say that dells suck, and from our customers i've heard a lot of bad things, if you do go dell buy a high end system and DO NOT BUY one of their printers. in all honesty for a good system u can buy a pre built good computer for under 900. and usually if a computer is real cheap its parts are cheap...

that first one on the page is a good deal.

Honestly, if you're not building it yourself, buy a workstation. I've found that buying business grade computers tend to net a better product. You get treated with more respect via customer service since they assume you're a big business and the components used are usually better quality. Granted the price is higher, but they also tend to look less stupid than most of the performance PC's out there anyway (good god Alienwares are ugly).

Checkout www.computerplanet.co.uk (external link) they have some really got machines you can customise to your own spec. A mate of mine just bought one. Coe 2 Duo would be my bag.
