Hi Folks,

Pulled a boner today. Saw a beautiful scene, stopped suddenly and made some exposures in a hurry. When I got home I realized that the ISO was set to 1600. It was a rather contrasty subject (sunset through clouds). I know the obvious answer is to pay attention to what you are doing, but how much can noise be reduced in Photoshop? The images were saved as .jpg files.

Thanks,

George

A lot of people like Noise Ninja or NeatImage, but my favorite by far is NoiseWare. CLICK THIS LINK (external link) to get to thier download page. The free version is on the bottom of the page.

I hate it when I do that. I did the same thing just three days ago while taking some pics of some gulls on a bright sunny day. The last time I used the camera was inside and ISO on 1600 and, yes, I got in a hurry and forgot to check the very first thing I always try to check - the ISO. The thing that should have been my first clue was the ability to shoot at F8 at 2000th/sec.
If you every find yourself thinking, "Man, That shutter speed sounds fast - or, that F stop seems high, after adjusting for proper metering ------- better check the ISO.
