The LCD's on canons are very durable, and there aren't many people out there that use them. From what I've read on various forums, the Canon LCD cover plate is user replaceable and is very inexpensive to buy. If you do want some kind of protection check out Hoodman and Delkin.. John

I bought it at Circuit City, it was for a Sony PSP (it was on sale, $6.49) I just cut it to shape. I have enough for 4 lcd's the size of the 30D's Gear: || Canon 5D MKII || EF 24-105 F4L ||EF 70-200 2.8L

The bit on the back of the Canons is actually a user replaceable plastic screen over the actual LCD screen. So the Canon's actually do have a protective screen, it just looks a lot nicer than the bulky thing on the Nikons. My POTN Gallery, Complete gear list,

Canon's EOS line actually have a hard plastic protective, and extremely clear, sheet over the LCD. It's easily removable in the unlikely event you manage to damage it and it costs $20 or less to replace. My D60 screen's fine after 4 years; the 20D and 5D are also doing fine, and I've never used anything on any of them. Chances are anything that would be able to damage the Canon plastic would go right through whatever you had on top of it and still scratch it. Jon
