I like the setups, but I would make the background white and add some contrast. I did that in photoshop, but I won't post them unless you want me to (turn image editing on).

Cool, thanks! ;)

I only edited the first one (I'm lazy), but I adjusted the levels and added some contrast to bring out the blacks in the lens against the white background. I attempted to clone out the bright green flare on the lens, but gave up.

I hope you like it:

Now tell me your method for making the white background please.

Certainly!

In the "Levels" menu, click on the far-right hand dropper (set white point) and click on the background. This makes everything of that brightness or brighter completely white.

Also in the "levels" menu, click on the "black point" dropper and click on a darker shadow on the lens. This makes everything that dark or darer turn black. It also re-defines the curves, so the tones blend.

Then, I added some contrast, darkened the highlights, and applied a little bit of Unsharpen mask (93%, .9 pixels, 1 threshold).

And that's about it!

im no expert, but just a tip. when you are composing the shot, try to eliminate the reflection in the lens you are shooting. possibly try placing a piece of foam core to reduce the reflections.

Neither am I, I have been doing photography for 6 Months so I have another 25 years to go:) I tried that but with non direct natural light you have no chance of doing that.

All I have are a stand with two flood lights but they are too close to each other. I didn't use them this time.

A circular polarizer could help. It would cut down on the reflections, in any case.

I prefer the shadows for these or else it would look as if it was cut and pasted. Some people add them in PP.

one thing you might want to consider to help with the reflections is the settup itself. read this strobist article and check out the settup, it seems to work well.

Sorry about that i thought you meant for the shadows not reflections. Because I tried it for the shadows not reflections.
