I have the kit lens. I was going to purchase a Tamron 17-50/2.8 or a Sigma 17-70. Can't decide between the two. I'm going to Kauai in 2 weeks. I like the extra reach of the Sigma but the Tamron has constant 2.8. Not sure if I need the constant 2.8 or maybe I could just take a few steps forward with the Sigma.

The bubble level comes with/after the tripod. The level is usually most useful on landscapes where you would usually not be using a flash (just swap the flash off and the level on).

The fridge is full. Stop in and have a cold one...or two.;)

Next time I'm in Banner Elk, I'll swing down. ISTR a few microbreweries in your area.

If you buy a good tripod with a good head you don't need a bublle level, it's included in the head. For your equipment: Buy other lens first, then flash and then think about a tripod.

Two bodies left, some "soso" lenses, and still a lot of gear.....

i agree with that BUT they are in a very weird position (3021 and 490 RC4 Bogens) so i bought their hot shoe level too and it makes life so much easier for me especially shooting landscapes.
