I took this last night on the way home with the 5D/50mm, a savage crop from the original.

I hads to wait for a couple of minutes (and missed a train) so that the cloud would frame the building in a way that I wanted then frantically shot off a few exposures in manual mode (there's big lights just out of frame that would have upset the automatic metering).

I gave this a pretty high contrast BW conversion (gradient map/channel mixer) and then lightened with curves to get texture in the clouds. The tower was selectively sharpened, but the rest of the shot left as it was.

The lines are electric train power lines. I elected to keep these in as an attempt to reinforce the impression of wartime London.

You could certainly believe this as a genuine wartime photo. it has loads of atmosphere!
