Besides Your Camera Gear, What Gadgets Have You Owned?

I find myself putting more stuff in my bags than ever. Besides my gear, I have a cell phone, a PDA, my laptop, Epson P-2000, Portable DVD player, ipod, and personal items. It's getting ridiculous. What's in your Gear Bag?

hmmm lets see....... I-pod, visine, eye glasses (can't read without them lol), skull cap, gloves,head phones Altoids, gum, mini hand cleaner, mini mouth wash.and a mini Bible.
Damn I have one heavy bag!

I used to be like that. Not only did I want all the new cool toys but if it was portable I had to have it and carried it in my bag. When I worked in the music business all the guys judged how cool each of them was by how big their bag was and how many cool toys they had.

Aside from the mandatory cards, filters, lens cleaning stuff and batteries?
Plastic trash bag, dog food can lids, plastic throw-away poncho, cable ties, notebook, aspirin, mini-carabiners, Swiss Army Tool, steel tape measure off the top of my head. Some of those are obvious, others less so, but I have photo-related uses for all of 'em.

Reading glasses, cell phones and the like have to live on my belt or in my pockets 'cus I need 'em even when I'm not photographing.

Always a handheld GPS if i'm hiking.

Sometimes I put a bottle of water in and my keys. I travel and shoot light.

I just remembered something more, I do carry a pocket knife and small plastic poncho for emergencies, torch for low light situations, manuals (of course). Oh, and yes, GPS in a bag by itself. I always have it even when I know where I'm going.

Great idea..! Mine is pretty old and crappy but will still work in a pinch, I'm going to throw that in my bag when I get home!

Space blanket (portable reflector, wind break, tarp, ground cloth), camp towel (remarkable item that hand wrings to 95% dry), plamps, Leatherman multi-tool (never leave home without one), handheld GPS (I can get lost in a single room cabin), flashlight (LED), trash bag, twist ties.

i like to travel lite and only take what i need. i can't see any reason to carry a pda, a computer, iPod AND the epson when shooting. do you really need to view the shots on the spot on 4 different items? you can easily do everything just with a laptop or just with the PDA.

No, don't need to view the captures, just like having everything I need. I don't like to be unprepared. But the ipod is new, my son put all my favorite stuff in it and it's great. The cell phone is a must, the PDA is to make sure my head is put on straight and on time , and the laptop is in case I need to send something on the net. The Epson is just for storage if I am on vacation or at a shoot that requires the whole day's worth of shooting. Oh, and I do take my Picturemate now if I print from the CF card. That works very well. The Picturemate has a rechargeable battery option so I can print without plugging in my printer. It's great!

hahah, i guess i wasn't thinking...

here i thought that all i needed was a camera, my lenses, my filters, extra battaries, extra CF cards and everything else i can do later when i am sitting in my cozy chair at home.... i don't know, the idea of carrying so many electronic devices would really take out the fun for me. i do have my phone on me at all times but it is shot off...

so Suzy, everytime you go shooting you take:

iPod
Printer
Epson viewer
Laptop
Cell phone
PDA
Portable DVD player

with all these devices, when do you actually find the time to shoot?

You have to remember, I travel with a crew. I have 2 little sons and they use the ipod and the DVD player when I'm not. And my older sons shoot with me.
