That looks like the balloon I was hanging around this weekend! Was that form Saturday or Sunday? If you saw one of them, you should have seen more. They were up in the air between about 8-8:15AM to about 9:AM both mornings, give or take 15 mins or so. From what I saw Sunday, there was usually more than one in a given area except for one balloon which decided to go up & away from the rest, but it was a red, white & blue one.

BTW, I'm digging folks' shots from the airshow at Dobbins. I kinda sorta drove past there Saturday late morning, but there was no decent place to park on the side roads. There were too many folks for my taste after going to the balloon festival so I didn't stop. I'll get to an airshow sometime soon. (Marc, that was me that hollered at you from the green car Saturday. I can't believe I saw you!)

This was Sat. Lake Lanier and that was the only one that we noticed in the area.

I shot the Holloman AFB Airshow last year and learned some things from it as well. Don'T zoom as tight as you think you need to and crop in post is better than cutting off a part and then position yourself so that you know when your sweep is about to hit the sun or any object that will cut down on the bad images you will have. I didn't attend this airshow even though I was in the area.

I will be relocating to just outside Cleveland Ga for the holiday season before returning to the southwest in January and would like to meet other Photographers that can get together and do some shooting everything from nature( leaves turning) to strobist gatherings with models and lights and such like they did in Seattle a few years back. I have some of my equipment with me, almost the majority of it in fact. I left the speedotrons and one Background stand but have several light stands and my two C-stand sith me plus my White background and my Blue or Green screen background.

So If we can get together anywhere between the mountains of Dahlonega and Cleveland Helen down to Atlanta or Athens I would be willing to attend if I have the free time and bring what I have top contribute. So lets have some fun and get together and make some art.

Also, Photo Barn is trying to offer a class for advance lighting on the next 4 Monday Nights for $149 iirc so call them today and let them know your interested or else they may cancel the class.

Same thing...walk across the street and you're in Norcross...close counts. lol
That is their website though, and yes, technically it's Lilburn.

I also heard that Photobarn is having a little trouble with stocking gear these days. I don't think business is great for them right now. They're nice folks, but as Doug said, a bit high for my tastes.

If you're looking for local places for camera gear and classes, you might check out Showcase. They're much bigger than Photobarn and are still higher than online stores, but at least you can put your hands on gear for the most part. Their sales folks are pretty knowledgeable as well.

One more FYI for folks wanting to shoot hot air balloons in the metro area. My co-worker told me about another event in Suwanee next month. Here's an excerpt from theCrossRoads newsletter about it.

Glow in the Gateway – Nov. 12 & 13
The City will host a hot air balloon glow in the Gateway area near Lowe’s Friday evening, November 12, and a balloon race on Saturday, November 13. Specific times are still to be determined. More information about Glow in the Gateway will be available at www.suwanee.com as the event nears.

I thought you might like to know about that one. It's about 5 minutes from my office and about 15 from my house.

Anybody used Camera Repair Japan in the Duluth area? My 40d is exhibiting the dreaded Err99 problem. I've turned it off & on, removed & replaced the batteries, swapped lenses and will try to clean the contacts for both batteries & lens and remove the grip to see if that makes any difference. If not, I'll need to get it checked. When I try to use Live view, all I see is a black screen, even though I hear the mirror flip up.

I've bought from KEH before but never used them for service. Camera Repair Japan is close to me. Has anyone used either for repair (or some other place local), of is it better to send to Canon?

Just wanted to stop in and say hello from Columbus, GA. I look forward to coming to Atlanta. I know there are some great photo Ops there.

I have used Peachtree Camera repair in Marietta for a old Nikon film camera I have and don't use much, but I have not had any experience with CRJ.

My inclination would be to send it back to Canon for a factory repair, but I tend to be overzelous about avoiding 3rd party repair options and dealing directly with the original manufacturer.

Good luck - hope it turns out with a fast minor repair.

CRJ is a factory authorized repair center. They are good. I have used them several times as well as Peachtree.
