Hopefully not too quiet. :(
I finally decided to join in on the convo.

Anyone interested in a glamour workshop with Justin Price?

I'm starting to get in touch with alot of well known photograhers and have them teach workshops here in Georgia, who would you guys want to see come to Ga and learn from?

Probably going to shoot the fireworks at Duluth and Chateau Elan, possibly the ones in Jefferson too but that's going to be for the paper. I am planning on going to Cape Canaveral for the last shuttle launch on July, 8th as long as the weather looks good enough to make the trip. Something I've always wanted to shoot and this is my last chance.
Any recommendations on where to rent a 500mm from for the trip?

I'm jealous on the shuttle launch. Marc went 2 launches ago (I think), and I went to one many years ago when I was still using my Minolta 35mm and a 70-200.
As for a place to rent a 500mm, try Lensrentals.com (external link). Great folks. I highly recommend them!

Thanks Lisa! I'll probably go with them. I'm just hoping for good weather since I'm on vacation that week and it is the last one ever. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Lisa, yes I shot STS-133 launch (Discovery's last flight) on Feb 24th in KSC from the causeway.

Doug, keep in mind that depending on where you are standing the viewing angle to the shuttles flight path allows you somewhere from T+6 to T+25 before you are just shooting a smoke trail with a bright star on top. So keep it simple and just worry about you panning and fire away. I shot with bracketing to make sure I got something. Remember that the flame trail is a bright as the sun so it can throw off the exposure if you let it.

If you stay with it to about 2min and you have the glass you can catch a blur of the separation of the SRBs from the shuttle.

Hope you have perfect weather conditions with an infinite ceiling.

For those that didn't know, last weekend was Field Day for the Amateur Radio community. It is a 24 hour event for teams of Hams all over the country setup temporary communication stations in Parks. Part community outreach, disaster preparation exercise, contest and training event.

Here is a few pictures where I was testing my low-light handheld shooting abilities on the past and future of ham radio in the wee hours overnight:

Anyone who is planning to attend the fireworks displays in Duluth and Lenox be sure to look for me.

Information on where I'll be positioned and how to find me can be found here (external link).

Well I was trying to find out when all the displays were happening but I didn't know Duluth had theirs last night or I would have come shot. I couldn't find a local page with a time listed except for last years and 2009. Headed out to Braselton now so hopefully the rain will stay away and I'll get some shots!

Anybody from the Thomaston area here?

Figured I'd give a shout out!

Shampoo sounds like an unfortunate name for a hair product.

I just saw the link to this place today on a POTN ad. Anybody ever used them before? They seem like they have some decent prices, and local has a definite appeal if I can save on shipping.

I've heard good things about them. I've never rented anything from there yet but I have some extra $$$ from a wedding I shot recently. Too bad they don't have any Carl Zeiss lenses. I'd like to try out the 21mm and the 85mm.
