I just rented a 50mm 1.2 L for this past weekend and the CA with this lens was just absolutely terrible. Many have told me that this is a common issue with this lens. My friend rented a 70-200 2.8 Mark II and he was telling me that he had to color correct all of his photos. Are these L Lenses up to par or are they junk? I have the 24-105 L and it's perfectly fine. Nothing wrong with it at all. I was under the assumption that these L lenses were top of the line. Is it because we're dealing with rented lenses? I am tempted to bring my 5D Mark II to a camera store and try out a brand new 50mm 1.2L. I was planning on buying one but now, I don't know...

I've heard that too about the 50L - just something you have to deal with. As far as the 70-200 f/2.8, my wife & and each have a MKII and can only say this lens is the closest to perfection that we have ever laid our hands on. Color has never been an issue for us. Maybe something was off on the rental copy, or there are some exposure issues.

yea 70-200 mkII is fantastic i use one to shoot sports at my school i dont think i have ever been this happy with a lens.


also anyone in atlanta selling their zeiss planar 50 1.4 ZE. i am really interested in this lens but its hard to justify buying this new when im a poor college student.

also looking for a used UWA or fisheye. preferably in the $350 or less range. im considering buying a new rokinon 8mm unless i find something better used or a used 8mm

My schedule has changed, all day Friday at the track, Saturdays mandatory safety meeting then off to Athens to shoot UGA vs Miss St. football game... THEN!...Back to Road Atlanta to shoot the last of the Petit and podium ceremony. LONG day but hey, if you don't love it, you don't do it!

just calling out to my atl people to see if anyone has any wide angle glass that they are looking to sell.

i dont want to go much higher than $400 but i am looking for anything in the range of 8mm-20mm primes or zooms

im currently looking at either the rokinon 8mm fisheye or a sigma 10-20 (used). im also open for suggestions or ideas as well. im a poor college student at clayton state and i do sports photography for my athletics dept and enjoy general photography as well. wide angle is going to be used to wide sports shots mainly

Definitely! I moved to GA in 1999 and this year was the first time I started going to events there. I lived near the Hampton speedway for a few years but Road Atlanta is so much more enjoyable.

What's up guys? Moved to Atlanta in January.. I'm here in Fulton, looking forward to getting back into the swing of things after a long hiatus dealing with school and so forth. Was doing a lot of video, and am back to my preference now.

I'm in the Thomaston area. I just finished a personal project shooting old dilapidated structures. It was a very cool project. I made a book (via Kodak) and it sits in my living room. I would love to make several project books.

I too would like to look for rusted stuff. I have a pretty decent start with a couple of old cars and a tractor. I also got one of an old earth mover that turned out pretty good. I just drive around and if I see something I can get to with out getting into trouble I'll get a few pictures of it. I'm not sure how that would work with someone tagging along... taking photos of the same thing.

Basically, I fill up the car and drive around these long, curvy country roads looking for stuff to shoot. That's how I got onto the whole dilapidated buildings thing. I saw a couple buildings that were ready to fall down, got some pictures of them and found that there were many many more buildings like this in my area. So I made it into my own personal project. I tried not to get shots of anything that people might be living in. It had to be non occupy-able.

Set some goals and when you go out you'll have a ball when you start finding stuff to shoot.
