Oh wow, sorry to hear!
I am mulling over a little vacation to Sebring Fl for a ALMS race. Not sure if I want to rent a 2.8

Thanks man. That sounds like fun! I wouldn't mind going to a race and see what I can shoot. Everything is new to me so I want to try everything!

Sorry to hear of your friends passing Chris. My condolences.

811...you thinking 70-200 2.8...you have the f/4, that should be enough if you add an extender.

Thanks man.

I forgot about one shot from the photo walk...last one from downtown...Derrick and I both found it odd how little traffic there was...

Traffic was weird like that around that parking deck we wanted to get up on as well. Was it close to that area?

Awesome shot btw!

Hey Chris, yeah, this was one block south of that hotel, you can see it on the left...it was really weird to see so little traffic.

I'm thinking about buying some used equipment from B&H. Is this a good idea? Are there better ideas?

Anyone been to "Wings Camera"? Seems to be some sort of consignment shop for camera gear. It's local too.

I have almost went a couple of times, but ended up getting busy.

I have not heard of them, but I think they are similar to KEH after looking at their site, just smaller.

I prefer person to person...it is always a better price, for essentially the same item. I got my 7D with a canon grip for $1100 in May last year...average price for that was more like $1400 at the time. I got a 24-70L locally from a pro upgrading their gear for about half what they go for on the used market...you just have to keep an eye on the FS sections and wait for the right deal and be ready to pounce...

Nice. Well thanks to your suggestion, I am now in a pickle. I see a 7D on sale for $725 shipped with a shutter count of 23103. I'm sure you remember me talking about getting a faster camera.

So here are my two options.

A. Get new camera and rent lenses until I can get my own.
B. Get new lens and wait on getting the camera.

$725...holy crap man...that is nothing...but...the voice of reason inside me would tell you this...

what is holding you back more, your 600D or your lack of glass? That will tell you where your priorities need to be.

My lack of glass :( Thanks for the tip.

I'm looking to get a 17-55mm for a good "all-around" type lens.

the EFS 17-55 lens is a great lens, my Dad bought one last year, and it is really nice, great color rendition, and sharp as a tack. They are on the used market for a good bit less than retail...

Nice. You think this would be ok to buy?

I don't think I have ever bought anything used that I couldn't pickup online, so I'm a little wary about it.
