And I have a 3 YO boy.. It was so hard to leave the family at home while I go ride my dirt bike, but now I set the wife up with a mt bike as well as a trailer for lil man. They can use the path and I go off on the trails.

That's awesome! I can't wait till she is old enough to start biking so that I can take her with me... That's if she will even like it

Nice ^^ classic Rockhoppers are still bad ass! Here is my rig.
We can have the wives go ride the path and we hit the trails!!

That looks fun! I just cleaned up my 20-year old Rockhopper because my wife wants to start riding but she's not into the off road trail stuff. I only rode my bike 2-3 times back when I bought it so it was in great shape after all this time. I put on some cheap road tires so I can get out and build up my legs a bit and make sure nothing breaks (on the bike, not me). Maybe later this year I'll upgrade to something more modern when I have the cash. Here's my bike:

Both of yall have some nice bikes. I am about to go pickup my bike from the shop. I will post a picture of it once I get it. We will definitely have to get together in the near future to get some riding in. Even if it's on the Silver Comet Trail or Piedmont Park! We can even include family and friends to make it a great outing!

Here's my bike. Just got a new chain and a front derailleur adjustment. Going to try and get a ride in tomorrow evening at Olde Rope Mill.

Cool bike! Today we went out and returned the "comfort bike" we bought for my wife a week ago and bought a proper beginner's mountain bike. Got a Fuji Nevada 1.7 for my wife (on order). We'll have it later in the week. It's an upgrade over the 1.9 but she wanted a different color (sigh, women).

Awesome! It looks like a very nice bike! I'm sure she will enjoy it! Hopefully she will stay content with the color

We went to Suwanee Creek Bicycles. From what I saw in the store they sell mostly Fuji. Very nice people there.

Very good! I have my wife riding my 99' GT. She wants one of those beach cruiser style bikes, especially since she has to throw a leg over.. She is not a fan, but it's practically brand new and not worth selling, so she will make due for a while.
Anyway.. Back to pictures.. Some shots from Road Atlanta

Nice shots! I'm hoping to save enough money to get a nice zoom lens in the next few months.

Did you use the 70-200mm f/4 that's in your sig? If so, do you have problems with speed (aperture) when shooting at races? Or is it bright enough outside to shoot at f/4?

The race isn't until next weekend. I am going to try and ride after work today to make sure the bike is ok.

Yes, same as in signature.. Yes, F4 is waaaay fast enough for outdoor daytime, fast shutter use! I am fairly new to DSLR photography (4 months and counting) that I rarely use this lens wide open, because of learning from what others have said about IQ .
I actually said to the wife earlier today I wish I could go back and reshoot the race after learning what I have in these 4 months. Now I only shoot in M and Raw, of course unless it is imperative that I get the shot perfect the first time! Exposure issues can be corrected in PP, I have really been focusing my attention to the sharpness of the subject even if I have to under expose the shot on purpose.
I still have a lot to learn, (understatement of the year) but I am having fun figuring it out!

I saw one persons signature that says " the more I learn about photography, the more I have to learn"..lol I think this sums up this hobby the best.
Anyway, I hope I answered your question!

Yeah, f4 is not going to get used a whole lot in motorsports unless you.are trying to stop action...most of my slow pans end up in the f16 range. I think even for mountain biking, you still wont use f4 much.

You definitely gave me something to research. Now I must find my lenses "sweet spots!" I've had my camera for just 3 months now but thankfully I bought the book called Understanding Exposure. It's really helped me out with shooting in different situations.

That sounds about right! I can't wait to learn more! That definitely answered my question though! Thanks man.

This is very good to know! I hope to get some good shots! I also hope it doesn't rain!!!
