You can easily get good shots from behind the fence. The fence in the turn 10a/b chicane is only about 4' high on both sides and the media photogs in front of the fence can only get about 6' further before the wall drops off. So you are not in a much different position than them. But the fence line does get very crowded and you will be elbow-to-elbow against people during the main event.
