I guess that was the non-L version? I had that lens for a while and loved it until I splurged & got the the L version and loved it more. :-) You'll have a lot of fun with that lens.

Anyone going to Wings Over North Georgia (external link) in a couple of weeks? I'm bummed the Thunderbirds aren't coming as originally planned, but some F-18s from the CAF are coming. I'm just contemplating whether or not to go and get the photographer's package.

I may be fascinated with volcanoes, but the name's Lisa.

I was tempted when they added the CAF F-18's. But we really have too much going on this month, getting ready for races (running), and spending too much on race fees. My wife is doing a practice run of the Atlanta Marathon course that weekend and I might run some of it since I am doing a 10-mile race at the same event. We have the AllState Half Marathon this weekend too (not sure I will make it due to hip issues).

Anyone in the Atlanta area interested in a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 (non-VC)? Great lens, very sharp. Recently purchased a Canon L lens and would like to sell the Tamron. Asking $325. Will be posting in the POTN classifieds shortly.

hanging elinchroms in the ceiling of the gwinette arena today for the rest of the WNBA finals. so if anyone happens to be there shooting the finals, one of those bright bursts of light i helped setup for a photog shooting for the league :P pretty excited to get to work with these lights today. after today the only strobes that i have yet to use are broncolors... so one of yall book me to be your photo assistant on your next shoot with broncolors. i hear those lights are the bees knees lol

-----

We installed 8 Elinchroms and ran roughly 500 feet of sync cord. We took a bunch of light meter readings around the court and averaged about 1/250 f6.3 iso160

in the left corner you can see another grey reflector. so for anyone wondering we doubled up and put 2 lights in each corner.

Pretty cool. Any idea what the light meter readings were before the strobes were installed? Gwinnett Arena is a nice place to see some hoops. Went there a few times the season before last when the Georgia Tech teams were homeless.

was roughly iso 800 f2.8 1/320 to guesstimate from shooting a small amount of arena sports. the arena has nice light
