OH, why did I do it. I even know better. I can't afford it right now.
I had a couple hours to kill tonight so I stopped at the local camera store.
I found a couple Hoya Multi Coat 77mm UV(0) and Sky (1B) filters in the used bin,
and he gave then to me for $7.00 A good deal, so far, so good.

Then I walked by the display of the Canon lenses. Hmmm an 85 F1.2 II
Think to myself, I wonder what all the fuss is with this lens. Why is everybody
going on and on about how much they love it. So I asked to see it, and
attached it to my 30D that I had in my backpack. That is where everything
went wrong. I set the camera to aperature priority and rolled it down, and
down, and down, seemed like forever after rolling past F/2.8 until it hit 1.2
Then I took a bunch of pictures with it.

OH man. Is the bokeh amazing at F/1.2

Now all I can do is Druel, as I can't afford to buy one right now.
Maybe next year, after I finish paying off some bills :-( :-( :-(

It's my own fault. Don't look at something you can't afford to buy, when
your an addict ;-)a

You have to view that lens in the same way you view the g&n forums, keep in mind these beautiful sparkly things please the heart and eye immensely but tell yourself they are as unobtainable as moon dust, and likely to cause you no end of trouble, Walk on by with a sigh ;)

I agree with you both. My friend (who is one here as timbernet) got his 85 f/1.8 and the 70-200mm f/2.8 and they make me want to drain my account. I am just glad it wasn't the IS version, then it would be really downhill :)

Isnt window shopping the worst? As much as I love visiting my local camera shop, I know that if I do then its lights on on the bank account. And even though Id LOVE to drain the account on camera gear, I have to keep a calm line of thinking and walk by, painfully.lol. I sometimes feel like a child that didnt get that collectors Ninja Turtle, and yes Im still bummed about it:|

Bingo.

I have lusted after a 5D ever since it came out, but I never once even touched one of them until the day I bought it. In short, I know better ;)

LOL. Well, I'm already eating twigs and leaves ;-)a

It's the rent and loan payments that I'm concerned about.
I guess I could wonder the streets for 3 month until it's paid
off ;-)a

The GF is taking off to Australia for a year, to take a Masters Course
So I need to pay off as many bills as I can, to make sure I can still
pay for everything for the next year. Althought I already calculated
that I will be money ahead with her gone. Don't have to bath daily
and wash the cloaths either. I should be able to save hundreds on
Soap alone ;-)a Kraft dinners are cheap, and the I won't have to
go out each week for expensive dinners either. Should be able to save
enough to pay for the new lens by christmas ;-)a ;-)a ;-)a ;-)a ;-)a

Ramen is cheap - where else can you eat for 17 cents? Sure there is no nutritional value - but who cares! At least you have a new lens!

I think Zacker has a glimmer of an idea there. I bought a 300D, shot for money, bought a 20D, shot for money, bought another 20D, put wife to work, shot for money, bought white lenses, still shooting for money........
