I've never handled a camera with a grip, and I don't have a grip...

But when people say it "balances" the camera out...that's nice and all, but your still adding weight.

Just weighed my xt on a digital mail scale. These are what the scale reads.I have been +/- 3 oz from my weight to the scale at the UPS store-on average.
Xt, battery, no lens-1lb 4.4oz
XT,grip, 2 batteries- 2lb .2oz
XT,Grip, 2 batteries, tamron 28-75 2.8- 3lb 2oz
XT,Grip, 2 batteries, tamron 2.8, Metz 44 flash w/batteries(4 AA)- 4lb 5.8oz

I like the grip for the extra shoot time and easy using it for vertical shots. My arms or wrists dont get sore at all, even when I had the 70-200 f/4L on all day.

I rather like the extra weight. Especially on a 350D. Those things just feel like toys in my hands. Never tried one with a grip, but I'm sure it'd be at least marginally more substantial.

B) It is my favorite thing I have bought for my camera most definately. Makes it easy for when walking down the side lines to hold the camera upside down by the grip instead of straining your neck by having it there the whole time.

Who cares about weight? Get one for the hell of it. It'll make your camera look really cool. LOL.

I got one for my 350D and loved it, then took it off when I got the 20D then put it back on now and it really does balance the camera well, with an 18-50 f2.8EX and a 430ex

They are a clone of the real deal & can run on one battery. Canon has better build quality IMO.

I just got mine and ordered it from Amazon... who gets it from 47th Street Photo! Wierd thing is that it was cheaper to get thru Amazon than directly from 47th. Go figure.

List Price: $149.95
Price: $69.95
My total delivered price was $79.90

I love it so far. Changes the feel of the camera for the better. (Does take up more space in the cam bag though.)

It can work with one or both batteries. And the batteries can be unevenly charged. It just draws on whatever is out there. In a pinch... you can also use the "AA" battery bracket. It even has a storage space for the door that comes off the camera body. Pretty cool! There is also an on-off switch for the second (for vertical) set of controls. So, you don't accidently hit them.

I would blame eBAY fees for that.
