Hello,
My new Ixus 800IS is producing very poor images. I’ve taken over 100 snaps now and EVERY ONE OF THEM is blurred.
I’ve tried every setting I can think of Including all ISO and IS settings, AIAF on and off but every time the images are still soft.
I’ve tried placing it in a fixed position to eliminate camera shake too.
Whilst doing numerous test shots to try and get rid of the blur I noticed that no matter what I photographed, The worst affected area was along the longer length of the image.
I’ve attached some test shots that I think prove that there’s a problem with this camera.
When a shot is taken the worst blur is at the top. If I then turn the camera vertically and take exactly the same shot with the focus locked on the same area, the worst blur moves to the side.
This has to mean the camera is faulty, surely!
I shot three different subjects doing this test with Aiaf switched off so that I could lock the focus on the same point for every shot. These are on best quality with every thing else on Auto and default.
TREE. Focus locked on centre.
This one shows that the top of the picture is the most blurred area.

Now the camera is held vertically and the most blurred area is now down the side.

GARAGE. Focus locked on red spray gun in centre of pic.
This is the first one. You can see that the top of the picture is blurred.

This is the same picture but the camera is now held vertically. The most blurred area is now down the right hand side (skis).

This is the same photo with my old 4mp Kodak easy share. No blur!

HOUSE. Focus locked on porch roof over front door.
Top of the picture is blurred.

Again, when the camera is turned, the worst blurring is down the right hand side.

Please give me your opinions.
I need to be sure whether this camera is "faulty" before I send it back because I'll have to send it to London. Then the retailer will inspect it and if they think it's ok, they said they'll just send it back to me and charge me £50 for the inspection!!!
Or I could just sell it on ebay but I don't want to sell a faulty camera to someone.
Thanks
