nice shots of those ols birds Adam the B25 is likely a local from Detroit. it was here a few years back at our air show. The pilot gave me a number of like 200 gallons of motor oil to fly from Detroit to Cleveland. Not very tight motors.

I think you knew I was going, I just have not posted much from the show. Finally getting around to them. The sky was bad, and the angle of the sun was not good at all for photography.

If a radial shows no oil, its out of oil. There are a zillion places for it to leak, push rod tubes, rocker box covers you name it. We use to burn 150 gals of fuel an hour and about 15 gals of oil per hour as well in the Yellow Rose.

That's an interesting fact. How much did they carry for each engine? Dry/wet sump?

Want to know what goes on inside a radial engine? Click here, http://www.republicphoto.com …les/dreadsec/dreadsec.htm (external link)

Some numbers boggle the mind, like 28 cylinders, each 156 cubic inches!!!

1 sec = 30 gallon oil tank. A lonely tablespoon of oil has escaped past the piston rings, burned, and been blown overboard.

Thanks! That's a great link!
