Once PMA happens, this year...let's say Canon comes out with a replacement to the 30D's, 5D's, 1D's, etc. will you make the switch? I know there will be some factors:

1) Price
2) Feature Set -- ISO, Noise Control, Custom Fctns., etc.
3) Reviews -- tests, pictures, whatever.

Yet, if you recently bought one of the aforementioned, current as of today, Canon bodies, and they introduce a new one, will you make the switch?

Let's see what happens...though, for me, I won't trade it. Not for a long while anyway.

If there were an option of: Yes, I don't shoot for money but will upgrade if it looks good. I din't vote as I didn't see an option that close to my decision tree.

joeg...I guess that would fit the bill of answer #5. Maybe a mod could add your choice, as well...as I don't beleive that I can edit the poll choices?

I'm still looking to upgrade to FF down the line, but I'm waiting for some improvements such as weathersealing and a bit better frame rate ... and maybe E-TTL III? :)

I'm just going to pick up another 20D to go with the 20D and 10D I already have. It does what I need it to do. I'm going to concentrate more on glass and an upgrade to Photoshop CS2 and Capture 1 Pro.

If they come out with an upgrade for the 1DsMkII, I won't upgrade. 16.7 megapixels is plenty, and there aren't any features I can think of that would make it a 'must have.'

I might upgrade my 1DmkII if they increase resolution to 11MP or more. I just depends on how much...

If they replace the 30D with something 11MP or more, I'll probably get one. If they lower the price of the 5D, I might get one of those.

On the other hand, I might just chuck it all and take up cheese making.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I've got a 1DsMkII, 1Ds, and 1DMII. I can't see upgrading 1DsMkII unless they come out with a body with a very noticeable improvement in high ISO image quality. Like ISO800 quality at ISO3200. That would cause me to upgrade. Otherwise, there really isn't anything that would cause me to upgrade. I'd move to medium format before upgrading on mega pixels alone. 16.7mp is more than enought for anything my clients throw at me. And the few times it hasn't been, I just rent a medium format or 4x5 setup and charge the cost to the clients. But 16.7mp serves me 99% of the time.

I will be selling my 1Ds and 1DMkII and either purchasing another 1DsMkII, or just selling the 1Ds, keeping the other two and banking the funds.

If they come out with a 1DsMk2n or a 1DsMk3, I will probably upgrade. My 1Ds has served me well and it is about time to move to the next generation...provided the features add the functionality that I would like to see.

I will keep my 5D and buy the new crop body as a backup. Not enough choices in your poll for me to vote accurately.

I am with you on everything except the cheese making  The only thing that might get me excited, would be a 1Ds/1D combo like some have said might come someday (but I doubt will, doesn't make sense for Canon)

Yeah, I hear ya on the cheese making...not my specialty either...and I don't think I will take that up, unless I move to Wisconsin... :)

As for the poll choices...I figure there's almost all conditions covered -- since it's more geared towards people that will upgrade...not buy another/replacement, etc. I dunno, someone can add their suggestion, but I can't change the polls.

For me, I will definately keep the 5D. It's only got about 800 pictures on it, since I bought it. I just don't like to pray and spray...I take my time, when taking pictures. If I was a sports shooter, then heck, sometimes, that's the only way. But for what I like to shoot, I take the laid back approach.

If the new camera meets my needs I will buy a new body. If it doesn't I won't.
I really can't call it an upgrade, because I will keep my current camera for backup, plus I am intending to permantly assign my 85/1.2 to the 1DsMkII as a matched pair when I get the second body.

If I upgrade then I'll probably go for a 5D. I don't really see much point in messing about with stuff like the 30D. I'd rather go all the way.

No guarantees, but I'm thinking of getting the 30D replacement, relegating my 20D to backup duties, and selling my Drebel.

This, of course, presumes that the new features are significant.

But then, a cracker (biscuits to the Brits) bakery to complement Belmondo's cheese venture could be interesting - Whaddya think, Tom?

Have Fun,

Rick
