Maybe add wireless capability like the new Nikon? It's an astounding camera as it is. Probably the 1Ds MkII will have the pixel density of the 1D MkII or even the 10D, and the same ultrafast Digic II processor and reduced noise at high ISO speeds, and probably the same ISO range than the 10D/1D MkII (ISO 1600 at least). The increase pixel density will increase resolution to 14-16MP too. Also it will include the new 1D MkII niceties as automatic orientation of pictures, 10x preview zoom, etc. This is the only I can think as "improvements", to equal the 1Ds to the 1D MkII in features, besides the wireless option already mentioned (and promised by Canon for later this year as an option) . Yes, I agree - the 1Ds II should simply have a larger version of the 1D II's sensor, so that they could be manufactured by the same process. It will have all the newer features that are common on 10D's and the new 1D, and will sport a lower noise level and higher ISO comparable to the 1D II as well. Tom

There are now medium format digi-backs pushing out anything between 20-30 Mpixels at stupendous £s/$s. It appears to me that most manufacturers are content with simply just getting as close to their film cousins as best possible and not too bothered about breaking these boudries. We have been with 35mm now for around 30 years, then the next jump is medium format. wedding photographer manchester

I must say, though, that using the 1Ds makes it difficult to go back to cropped-frame dSLRs. Still, some of my best stuff was shot with a broken Pentax K1000 or a 60-year-old 4x5 view camera.
