These look great! What do you use for a background when doing this?

Thankyou all so much for your comments.:D
Some of you have asked how this was done, and firstly i must say this is NOT my original idea or technique. I cannot remember who's images i first saw, but it was here on POTN a lil while back..sorry to that poster!!Your work was awesome and inspiring!

ok.. i shot this on my dining room table using an insence stick in a holder...the background was a piece of black velvet material. There was a good 4 feet at least of seperation from the background to avoid falloff from my light. I used a strobe to camera right and made a home made crude snoot to also try to keep direction where i wanted it..For focus i first set it on the end of the insence stick, then recomposed. My only light source was the strobe triggered by a sync remote on camera. i used the modeling light so i could actually see what i was focusing on.

PP was inverting for the white background.. and playing in Hue/Sat.. gave a USM and a lil glow.

Easy, yet can be fiddly at the same time and lots of fun tryign to get the smoke doing funky things like you want it too!

Nic:D
