So, my 30th is fast approaching, and my wonderful wife asked if there's a lens I want. The only lens I would like (and is anyway affordable) is a 135 f/2 L (otherwise the 50mm f/1.2L would be on the list!). The thing is, she said she's more than happy to co-ordinate between her and my family, and hers to get everyone to chip in to pay for one, and. . . . I'd have the most awesome portrait lens that I would treasure for ever. If not, well, I don't know - she's sorting something out for me, and said I'd still get it, but a very scaled down version if she gets me the L (plus my family, and in-laws will just chip in as opposed to getting me different things).
Now, if I don't go for the L, there's next to no chance of me being able to afford it for around 20 years - the kids are growing fast, and their demands on my wallet are also growing! But, I still have my 85mm f/1.8 (her present to me last year
), so it's not as though I'm without a great portrait lens. . . .
135 L - go with the red ring. . . .
