There is a texture on the walls, even in the sunlight that reinforces the other-worldly fashion of the person who him/herself is in another cellualr world. In particular the spot of yellow and its balancing spot of red help pull the me toward the figure who arises just enough out of the shadows to come into the light, yet the person remains mysteriously bundled and sun-glassed against any revelation. This could be a city in any "civilized" area of anyplace. Civilization's veneer appears to be crumbling and flaking, eh? Ted Byrne

The colours, graffiti tags, and the person moving by all create a fantastic composition. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Feb 06, 2007 19:46 | #7 ...at the same time, I'm not completely happy with the sign visually. I might take a shot at posting it... The crisp letters bother me. And, it's distracting. But I love the words. I want the words -- but not the sign. Hmm. Game-maker by day. Shooter by night.

This is indeed the melting down which a furnace causes. You've caught metaphoric sign, at a metaphoric moment. It is so real... so honest... so authentic. Pity that we have to wrestle with the liguistic ambiguity... but we own that problem, don't we? Does the artist have an obligation to sub-title art? Ted Byrne

I'd just like to hear your comments. Thx. I think the story is a less distracting one... Somewhere in here. If you can open up the face of the passer-by even more in your original, it seems to lend itself to a surreal square....
There is always a temptation to leave every interesting detail, even when they create more noise than information. And you have a superb eye for information. The first rule of writers is: Limit your topic. It applies as well to visual artists. Unlike a pianist, we can not play simultaneous melodies as easily. Ted Ted Byrne

I will post it as soon as I can... I think you will like it) Ok, my G5 is back, and I was able to edit the pic I wanted to show you. Game-maker by day. Shooter by night.

I totally understand. That was the intention behind blurring/burning the other people. I wanted to direct the eye to the bed (obviously), but I wanted to include this odd communication of people ignoring him. Seeing the others walk around him seemed to work. But, again, I get the C&C.
