okay, I'm just getting into photography.. got the 30d , 580ex flash and 24-70L. I saw everyone talking highly about the alienbee sets so I just ordered the digi set with 2 strobes and a softbox. Will my 580ex flash beable to trigger everything and what else might I need?

thanks
jason

About a years worth of patience to learn how to use it all?

You've got yourself some seriously nice equipment there. To answer your question - yes, your 580EX can trigger them - but with a caveat. You have to be in manual mode on the flash. EX flash units in ETTL mode fire a pre-flash which will trip your ABs. I would think you might be better off triggering them with one sync cord and letting that wired unit trip the rest. If money is not object then a set of Pocket Wizards to trip them all wirelessly with no interference from other flash units.

"What next"?

I suggest you get married, have a couple of kids, get a dog, move to Hawaii, read Catch-22, and learn to yodel.

Enjoy! Lon

I agree with Lon, except the yodeling part. No sense annoying the neighbors.
