Protecting the screen

Would there be any reason why I can't use one of my screen protectors from my PDA on the back of my XTi? Just trim it to fit. EricL

As long as it fits in nicely, why not?

No reason, but it'll make seeing harder and the camera's LCD is already under a very tough plastic cover that's readily replaceable for under $20 if you ever manage to scrape it. I haven't managed to damage any of my cameras' covers in all the time I've had them.

Like Jon said, you don't need to add anything to Canon's LCD protector. A thin PDA protector won't do anything to protect the Canon part. If you do something bad enough to mar the Canon part, you'll be cutting right through the PDA protector.

Do yourself a favor and forget it. You'll be able to see the images more easily by leaving it as built.

It protect your screen and can be used as a screen hood too.
You can simply add/remove the hood when not needed and only let the protection on the screen.

I have one for my 350D and it's perfect.
