How about some comments so I can do better next time?

Thanks.

Technicals are fine, but the subject matter is probably not something most people find interesting or pleasing.
People have enough ugliness in life and like to look at images that they find a beauty or interest in, or at least something they may not see every day. Just my humble opinion and not a knock on your work.

Jungle,

Thanks for your input.

I know skanky old ashtrays do not appeal to most people.

If you want a beautiful ashtray try a Waterford crystal with a freshly lit Monte Cristo next to a Dunhill lighter.

People crave beauty, or a sense of something unusual. Something horrible can get attention if it is rare and interesting. It makes them want to know more about it or tells some kind of story.

The photos look fine. Just not a very interesting subject.

I'm a smoking paraphanalia fan collecting old Ronson table lighters and ashtrays from vacation retreates like the Vegas casinos. All are endangered species in this era of anti smoking and getting hard to find.
