Marquette Rail's southbound train out of Manistee MI on 1/29/07 had to leave some tracks in the snow. ;)

1. Passing through Stronach

3. Rare Detroit and Mackinac boxcar now owned by MQT Rail

4. Approaching County Line Road where they stop short of the road to place fusees on each side of the track on the crossing for extra visibility in the snow due to an automobile sliding into the train at another rural crossing earlier in January.

I know I complained bitterly when I lived in snow, and I couldn't wait to get back to California after living in Pennsylvania for several years. Now, I'd give just about anything to be able to look out my window and see falling snow.

These are wonderful shots. Thanks for posting them.

Lookin' good, BB. It's snowing like that today, but unfortunately I can't get out to get any pictures.

Has there ever been a need for the rail plow up there? Does Marquette even have one, and how much snowfall would be necessary before it's used? I'd love to see that in action.

Here, it's sunny, clear, almost 70,and nothing but yellow locomotives as far as you can see.

Once I get use to the snow I like it around.

Dude, J T my goal was to get a pic like your awesome Amtrak money shot but wasn't quite enough snow on the crossing and it didn't help that the train stopped before the road. lol

CSX ran a Jordan Spreader up to Ludington a couple years ago when there were some 5 foot drifts on the tracks. MQT recently brought a snow plow up to Manistee from Grand Rapids. Sits with the GLLX 4 switcher down at the yard. There's also another snow plow behind the round house in Manistee that hasn't moved for a very long time. Maybe 2 foot of snow before they would bring out the new plow.
