With many thanks to Tommy at Broughtons, Pangbourne, I took some shots at this car showroom.

I think I 'd go with the Astons ;)

Nice use of blur to reduce background rubbish - works for me.

nice rides!

the PP is well done, but blurring always looks a little fake
fake shallow DOF is quite difficult to reproduce

Many thanks for the comments. Yeah, the blur does look fake, but I just did that to make the subject stand out better and blur out the background clutter.

Yes, maybe on the last DB9 shot, try not blurring the bottom pavement (right next to the car, between the front and rear wheels) that might give it a little more credibility

Yeah. See what you're saying there. I'll bear it in mind for next time around.

And when blurring out the background...remember inside the cars windows! Bokeh blurs uniformly! hehehe... Unless of course, the car is actually filled with bricks!

And a shallow depth of field is hard to play with on cars at short distances. Exotics are wide. The far mirror would be oof too.

Nice shots though! Especially the Koenigsegg. You captured the rear lines in the second pic very nice! I love the flowing top/rear panels they made for it!

Love the DB9. The PS work helps to set the car off well in all cases.

I stumbled upon a Koenigsegg here in Berlin before I knew/realized what it is. Now I can only hope to find it again and get a shot or 3 of it. Beautiful cars.

Again, nice shots.

Great looking cars, but the blur mask is very hard edged.

Love the DB9

The light in 1st one is fairly good. It would be better without the building reflecting in the "bonnett".
The ones in the showroom all need better light. Too bad you were stuck in there.

but the blur mask is very hard edged.

It could be harder at the rear fender? Try this...

like them (maybe less blurring, it looks fake)... but wish you got some good old fashioned full car shots as well.

Many thanks for the good comments guys, and thanks Frank - I'll look into those tutorials. All the lighting I had on me was ambient at the time, I didn't even have the flash with me. Most of it was at 800ISO.

The unprocessed shots looked pretty good, but as you can see from the outdoor shots, there's plenty to mess up the backgrounds, which is why I blurred it. Ironically, that big white van left just as I was walking back to me car. Darn it.
