I was sitting around Christmas morning chimping my kid's gift attack when I decided to have a little fun with my wife as she was getting the house ready for company.

Seeing if she would notice the big flash, I took one picture...

1. *FLASH*

IMAGE: http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h89/TheSteveMadden/EOS_18773_web.jpg

He he he. That got her attention, but she still isn't quite sure what's happening.

2. Let's take another... *FLASH*

IMAGE: http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h89/TheSteveMadden/EOS_18774_web.jpg

3. NOW she get's it. Let's go for the reaction.... waiting... waiting... *FLASH*

IMAGE: http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h89/TheSteveMadden/EOS_18775_web.jpg

MONEY SHOT! OH YEAH!

4. Lets look at that one a little closer....

My what big eyes you have, my dear!

5. After the initial shock wore off... she thought it was funny.

I don't know how she puts up with me ;) but I love her SOOOO much!

These were taken with my Rebel XT, EF 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 II and 430EX.

Manual Exposure 1/125s at f/5, ISO 400 and FEC at +1/3. I chose these settings to bring some ambient into the image about 1 stop under the flash exposure. The flash was bounced up and back over my left shoulder to create the softbox effect from camera left (you can see it in the closeup catchlights) I love bouncing flash back over my shoulder, but the 430 makes it difficult as it only goes 180 in one direction so I have to hold the camera shutter button down for portrait orientation.

My wife liked the money shot and sent it to school with out youngest son so he could discuss what mommy and daddy did for a class project. We think it has that 50s housewife look.

Thanks for looking and please send condolences c/o THE DOGHOUSE if I suddenly stop posting ;)

Hilarious!

After the "money shot" I thought for sure the next photo would have a large crack down the middle.

Nice to see the smile at the end too.

That was the coolest and a frightening sequence there. Although in the end you were saved by the humor that came out of it, do you know what could have happened to you man? A woman in rollers, and you took a picture, thats like poking your finger at a rattle snake, there could be a venomous bite:p. Im glad you made out alive. And all jokes aside these are pretty good photos. I love her expression you captured them perfectly.

These are great! Sort of like those long e-mails in which you have to scroll down to finally find out what's all about. The money shot here cracked me up. You're lucky she has a sense of humor or else that vacuum wand could had done some real damage :).

That will come after she realizes he posted them online.

For candid shots, they are so well done. Very nice job.

So tell me, were you able to fit all your photo gear and sleeping bag in the Dog House, or was she cool with the whole thing?...

Have to say, my favorite is the stink-eye. I am not sure about other hubbies out there, but I would rather have a stare-down with a grizzly bear, than to get that look from the wifey.

Cheers,

Thanks, guys! She IS a great sport and beautiful too (I'm a little predjudice, though)

She got a kick out of the "horrified housewife" shot. As I mentioned, we think it could have come straight out of a 50s sitcom and she sent a print of it to school with out son, so it's already in the wild.

You are a lucky, lucky man! Not only to have such a beautiful and understanding wife, but for living through the experience! Very funny series!

Great series and wonderful reaction by your wife.

You're lucky! If that had been me, I think the sweeper arm would have been relocated to a place that would not have been comfortable for me.
