Look's like its coming out April 30th.
There's an extensive review here:

I'm considering upgrading from my s230 to the s500.

Do you really need the extra 1 mega pixel S500 offers? If not.. save $100 and get S410.. with less noise on the picture too

I know, the noise difference is bothersome. I'm assuming its still better than the noise I get with the s230 (2002).
Does anyone know what is responsible for the noise difference?
Is it the CCD? They (Canon) say that the CCD in the s500 is the same CCD as in the G5. Can the G5 have that much noise too?
My other justification is with 5 megapixels, there's that much more info that can be scaled down into a 4 x 6 print @ 300 dpi, therefore reducing some of the noise by resizing.

I just played with an S500, and it's almost identical to the S400, except it has a Quick Shot feature (like the SD10), high-speed continuous feature, a power saving option, and a way to adjust the LCD brightness.

That's odd because I've got an IXUS400 and it has a high-speed continuous shooting option, a power saving option.....oh yes, and an LCD brightness control !

:D

My bad. After looking again, the PowerShot S400 does have an LCD brightness selector in the menu. The other 2 options are different though. I guess the IXUS 400 may have slightly different menu options.

i recently purchased the s500, and i love it to death.

i got it for the same price you would pay for the s410 in stores, via online shopping.
