i do the velour/velvet thing. :)

after spending a ridiculous amount of money to have three 107" rolls of seamless shipped to me, only to realize that i have nowhere to put them and can barely get them on the stand myself (thanks to being a short chick), i decided to go with velour/velvet. they absorb the light beautifully..

Always buy roll paper locally, this typically mitigates much of the shipping cost. Most theatrical supply houses have it as do many large photographic stores. I have found it to be less expensive from theatrical supply houses, and they often have a better stock of colors.

Since you are Chicago, it is likely you have scores of local establishments that sell roll paper.

I can easily get a 9 foot roll in my compact 4 door sedan car thought the trunk, with the back seat down, and the roll to the windshield. With a very small car you may need to roll down the front passenger side window and stick out a few inches. But, if your backseat folds down on your car, you can get a 9 foot roll home from a local merchant. You do not need a truck or van.

But, roll paper is very heavy, don't even consider the 12 foot roll paper lengths rolls unless you have a fixed and very robust hoisting mechanism.

Enjoy! Lon

HAve to agree, B&H was nearly $40 for the roll and $35 s&h for a 9' roll where as the local shop had it for $53 tx and all.

so what other places (besides B&H) are good to buy a muslin for around $100? we are looking for a neutral color that would match anything. any recommendations?
