Hi. I have a strange problem with my 30D. Its shutter sometimes doesn't response sometimes or resposne with a long delay (about 1 or more second).
The CF Card activitiy light is off and I'm sure this is not related to the full buffer.

Does anyone encountered with this or simiilar problem?? Do I have to send my honey to doctor?

PLEASE HELP

Is the focus light steady or flickering when this happens?

No. I'me sure the buffer is empty (CF activity light is off)!!
Last few minutes I upgraded the firmware to 1.0.5. But the problem is not solved!

do you have a grip, and does it only happen with the shutter release on the grip? i had a similar problem with the 30D but it only happened when i used the shutter release on the grip. took the batteries out and voila, back to normal.

No. I don't have a portrait grip. I just use the shutter release button located on the camera!! (I didn't test it with remote control)

Does this also happen if you put the AF switch on the lens to 'M'?

aaa! I don't remeber it happens with MF mode on the lens!!
I set the camera to not shoot with out the CF card. Also I use a old and slow CF card. may be this problem related to the slow CF card?

could be, maybe a try with a new card is worth it. If that doesn't work, I'd probably would send it in.

Are you using flash, especially the on-board flash? It might be recycling and won't let you take another flash shot until the flash is ready.

My 30D shutter lags in multiple burst with my SanDisk Ultra, I got a Extreme III on order hopefully it helps.. Try raising your ISO all the way up put it on M mode turrn the shutter all the way up and select the largest app. And turn it on MF mode and hold down the shutter, if it lags then you have a prob. with the camera, I would try a different card like "Tee Why" says, before you send it in to canon, are you still in warranty?? Hope so, my 30D did the Err99 thing, canon got my cam out and back to me in 9 days so as long as your still in warranty I wouldn't worry. :) Good Luck

If you are saying it doesn't happen with the AF switch on 'M', then Jon was spot on (second post), and the camera is in One Shot AF and can't lock focus....
(In that case, the green focus conformation light in the viewfinder is not on continuously, but either off or blinking rapidly)

CF card has nothing to do with it, since you state the activity light is off.
