Hi Alec;
Your images are way too dark on my screen to make anything of them...

That's odd--they look just right on every screen I've seen them on...

They're on the dark side here too. To dark to make out any details.

Lightened the shadows by 50% to make this one look about right on my monitor.

I dunno man...I mean I guess it's better in some ways, but I do like the contrast on my original. Could just be that i was shooting at the wrong time of day (facing west at sunset) with the wrong settings...for me the redeeming quality of the first two is the darkness, as well as the contrast seen in the graffiti on the tracks.

Either that or I'm just crazy ;)

Dark here too. Not to dark to make out the picture, but still looks way to dark. The one Eagle did looks much better. Are you using a calibrated monitor Alec? Most uncalibrated monitors I have calibrated for friends and family were very bright, to bright. It is a night and day difference between the two.

On the photo note, I really like the 3rd one.

Didn't even notice the graffiti until you mentioned it. I was just trying to see where the tracks went.

No, it's not calibrated. I can however see each individual gradation on this contrast bar:

However, let's see what we can do now...was processing with Canon's RAW utility back in April, and am now on CS2, which is a bit better;) ;)

I've got an LCD, and the originals were on the dark side, but not too dark to see. The lightened ones do look a bit better though. Nice composition.

Do you think the silver graffiti stands out enough, or perhaps some selective contrast adjustments are in order?

I think you may have something with the LCD comparison...just out of curiosity, what's everyone who's been commenting viewing these on? They look about the same to me on both my current LCDs and the old CRT screen I used when I processed them back in April.

CRT
Second time is better but still a bit dark. Third pic is the best of the bunch.

Even turning my brightness down to zero, everything's still clear to me... just ran an optimization utility and everything. If anything, images now appear more clearly :p
