The 350D doesn't have a pc sync socket. The thread below links to some adapters you can use.

I suspect the OP would need a lot more detail for your suggestion to have much value.

I just purchased the Interfit Stellar 300 kit. I also purchased the wireless Interfit INT412 Radio Kit (@ $80.00 in US currency). It is battery operated. The transmitter mounts on the hot shoe for the camera and there is cord that plugs into a radio receiver that plugs into your main light. Additional lights may then be fired optically. No cords as it were. It is reported to have a range of 50 meters. It has one channel only, which only means that you can't change channels if there is another photographer working on the same frequency within your 150 meters.

PS - I operate with the 400D/XTi.

Thanks for your replies!

So if I buy one of these hotshoe adaptors will my (speedlite) flash fit on top of it or do you have to do without it?

What is Wein???

If you buy one of those hotshoe adapters I believe you can use your speedlite, however, you would lose all ETTL function with your flash. You would have to adjust your speedlite flash manually.

With the wireless setup I suggested, there would be no possibility of connecting a speedlite. But I question why you would want to add a speedlite when you just bought studio lights. Mixing and matching studio lights with speedlites or any other hotshoe flash is very difficult. If your studio lights have modelling lights, you would have to do a lot of guessing and testing to get to where you would capture what you're seeing. And isn't that the point?

If you have two EX150's, which you do not specify, you should have plenty of light to get started. Actually, you can take fantastic pictures with one light and a couple reflectors or white foam board as reflectors. It is my opinion, unless you have an project to complete on a deadline that requires an extra light, I would experiment a little.

The advantage of the wireless system is ease of setup and movement. There are no wires attached to your camera. If you hand hold, which you will find that you will, you have to put your camera down everytime you make adjustments, otherwise, you will have cords wrapped around everything. It's very nice not to have to worry about that. Just my one cent, because I don't have two:lol: .

Gerdav43 is correct, most of these adapters have a generic hotshoe that you can attach a flash unit to, but you would lose E-TTL and have manual control only. I agree with his sentiments about trying to use the Speedlite and Interfits together. They really are different tools for different purposes. It will be easier to learn how to use the strobes without the Speedlite complicating the mix.

What is Wein?

Wein is a company that makes various flash-related devices, including some infrared flash sync systems. They are fairly pricey. Search B&H for "Wein" and you'll find them.

Yep. That is the answer. I have use my wireless trans for several weeks now. It has been a great addition to my equipment and the lack of wires running around has been great. However, the best part of the setup would seem to be when I take light measurements, I am able to trip the lights by carrying my camera (I've been trying more handheld portraiture) with me and activating wherever I'm at. One less assistant!!

Gerdav....will the interfit wireless trans work with any canon? My friend has the 150EX lights, she has a hot shoe adaptor with a sync lead...(Nikon camera) and today we were playing around with it but because of that my 1D MK II N wouldn't trip the lights :-( so the only way I could use them was with my Speedlite.....and high ISO...so the shots are ok but noisy and I'm totally frustrated with the lights.....which I was going out to buy this week :-(

Please someone tell me what I need to buy ??

I cannot actually say. The wireless transmitter simply slides in the hotshoe. There is no need for a hot shoe adapter. I could not even think about purchasing the camera that you have so I don't know. I don't see why it wouldn't. There is only one contact on the transmitter and that is the center contact which only tells the flash to fire, thus emitting a signal instead of a flash.

The item I purchased is made by Interfit. It is a kit. INT412.

Look under the electronics section of accessories to see what I'm talking about.

I actually have a Sekonic L308S. I'm just learning on the whole meter thing, but it really streamlines the whole process. I can see how the meter is a valuable tool.

I dont have a clue about light meters either! But you have to start somewhere don't you! I presume that the reading tells you what to set the camera at rather than trial and error...I'm sure I'll get there!
