This falls into the "I should really know how to do this" category.

I bought my tripod with the head attached some years ago. I purchased an Amnova ball head online and need to detach the Bogen head and don't seem to know how.

Could someone please lend a hand?

Thanks so much.

George

Take a look at the underside of the column's mounting plate for one or more set screws. Back them off and the head should unscrew.

There should be three setscrews that are found under the mounting plate. They lock a head into place so it cannot come loose. Unscrew them at least two or three full turns to let the typical head come loose.

After loosening the set screws, you may have to tighten up the panning lock (if you have one) and then grab the head in one hand and the tripod in the other and twist the head counter-clockwise rather hard to break it loose.
