Tried searching the forums, got too many results back.

Will a 8GB sandisk or transcend cf card work on my 30d without any issues?

thank-you
Raymond

Do you need 8GB? I shoot RAW with my 20D and use 2GB cards, I carry 2 or 3.

do I need 8GB, not really, just saw it on sale for a pretty ok affordable price at my local costco and was just wondering,

Oh, never considered that about 8 gigs, I guess my next question is how well does the 30d work with 4gb cards? or should I stick with 2gb cards instead?

Ideally I'd like to grab one or 2 more cards for my camera, almost vacation time =)

thank-you
raymond

Agreed...and besides, if that 8GB card fails, that's an awful lot of pictures to try to recover. It falls under the "all your eggs in one basket" principle for me.

I'd go with multiple 2 gig cards. I only have 3 -1 gigs and a 4 gig myself. I've never filled more than 5 gigs in a single day. And searching photos is much easier with fewer pics on a card.

I have found I use my 4GB cards much more then my 2GB cards since I shoot RAW and sports and shoot 200-400 shots a game and often shoot 4-8 games a weekend...

Like others allready mentioned, go for smaller CF cards. Instead of one 8 GB
go with two 4 GB each. In case one fails you loose less and you can continue
with the otherone.

Yes, 4 GB cards will do just fine in your 30D. Look at the Sandisk EXTREME III.
Good price these days and very high build quality. And don't forget the lifetime
warranty and the Rescue Pro software that comes with it.

Good luck.

I have five of the 4GB Sandisk Ultra II's. Never an issue with my 30D. I think the 4GB is the perfect size. I shoot all RAW so it does fill up fairly fast.

Oh just to add some more details, I usually shoot jpeg, butI'm starting to work on my composition and photoshop skills so starting to take a lot of picture recently and it seems like my 2gb + 1gb card isn't enough.

Hmm never considered the all eggs in one basket theory, phew good thing I asked =)

well I do have some 256mb + 512 MB cards from a long time ago.

But like a few have mentioned, the 4GB cards aren't that expensive now. I'll grab one for now and see how fast it fills up then I can judge if I should grab a few more for my vacation.

thanks for listening to my rants

Raymond
